Growth Monitoring

The American Association of Orthodontists has recommended that your child visit an orthodontist by the age of seven to receive an evaluation. While this is too young for your child to receive an active phase of orthodontic treatment (such as braces), this is a great time for a more passive phase of orthodontics. Dr. Kuhni’s team can begin monitoring the growth of your child’s teeth. Observation appointments are done while your child is just making the transition from baby teeth to adult teeth.

Start Growth Monitoring

We Know How To Help.

Here at Kuhni Orthodontic Studio, we will monitor your child’s dental development, keep an eye out for any potential growth problems, and determine the right time to begin orthodontic treatment. Your child will start this process with an evaluation by Dr. Kuhni and X-Rays will be taken to establish a baseline of growth. Additionally, Dr. Kuhni will look for or ask about the following:

  • Trouble chewing
  • Mouth breathing
  • The late loss of baby teeth
  • Signs of thumbsucking
  • Crowded teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Speech problems
  • Grinding of teeth
  • Clicking of the jaw joints

The goal of growth monitoring is to create a healthy environment for your child’s permanent teeth to erupt into. Having your child monitored for orthodontic issues can help create a foundation for a lifetime of good dental health and a beautiful smile!
