Brushing your tongue is very important. It removes plaque, bacteria, and germs, while also keeping your breath fresh and cavities at bay. For all of these same reasons, it’s important to brush your tongue as well! Anything you eat ends up on your tongue as well as your teeth and can still cause damage.

REMEMBER TO BRUSH YOUR TONGUE

When brushing your tongue, make sure you brush from the back of the tongue to the front. This can be done with or without toothpaste, but either way, remember to thoroughly rinse your brush afterward. Other benefits of proper tongue brushing include:
  1. Decreasing the bacteria that causes strep throat
  2. Maintaining fresh breath
  3. Avoiding a sore throat
  4. Preventing plaque buildup
  5. Lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke
Caring for your dental health is a part of orthodontic treatment. Wearing braces means it’s more important than ever to maintain good oral hygiene.
