It may surprise you to learn that around 75% of Americans suffer from chronic dehydration. Dehydration is not only bad for your overall health, but it can also be detrimental to your oral health as well. Water helps to strengthen the teeth, wash away food debris and bacteria, and helps to fight dry mouth.

DRINKING MORE WATER

If you’re concerned that you or your family may not be drinking enough water, there are a few simple ways you can try to remedy this problem. Below are a few tips on how to increase water consumption:
  • Keep water handy all the time – If you have a desk job, keep water on your desk. Keep one in the car, one in your backpack, and one at home! We suggest purchasing reusable bottles to avoid doing damage to the environment. If water is available and in front of you, you’re more likely to drink it!
  • Drink a glass before dinner – Drinking a full glass of water before dinner will not only help you stay hydrated, but can also help you shed those extra pounds. If you drink water before dinner, you’ll feel full faster and consume fewer calories.
  • Add water-drinking to your skincare routine – Making sure to drink plenty of water is also great for your complexion! So, if your health isn’t motivating enough, a healthy glow should be!
  • Keep the time on your water bottle – Make marks on your water bottle as to how much you should have consumed by certain times of the day. Make sure you’ve had 4oz by 10am, 8oz by noon, etc. This is a good way to make sure you’re drinking the recommended daily amount.
